Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 10, 2011

An unusual California native, Patricia Rust now blogs for the Huffington Post about spiritual lifestyle, health, entertainment, travel, and her entertaining life which takes her into the realm of celebrity and to the four corners of the earth. This Los Angeles native leads a glamorous life among the rich and famous but concentrates on the spiritual life within it. What sets her apart from others is that she covers an enormous range of topics and includes popular personalities and destinations in a unique voice that comes from her unusual background.

As an award-winning screenwriter and author, she is most proud of her work as a children’s author such as her best selling book The King of Skittledeedoo and her children’s stories for the Los Angeles Times which appear regularly.

Her Huffington Post pieces so far have included: A story about interviewing actor Gerard Butler, a visit to the world class spa The Golden Door, teaching her writing workshops, the joys of aqua exercise, elevating yourself spiritually, ways to cope with life stressors, her weekend with the new I-Phone, bringing a Beatles song to life, and being mindful and present.

Patricia Rust’s circle of friends and fans include her treasured fan letters from Charlton Heston, Nancy Reagan, and Laura Bush. Patricia has addressed the governor’s wives and been invited to speak at the governor’s rotundas in conjunction with her children’s literacy organization called Power for Kids,(see http://www.powerforkids.com), a not-for-profit organization which promotes learning and reading in schools and children’s facilities across the country. Her “Make a Book” program where kids write their own books is particularly popular with children ages 5 to 12. This popular book has also been used in the Screen Actors Guild Book Pals program and the Writers Guild of America Foundation’s literacy program.

Rust is a UCLA graduate with a PhD in child psychology with numerous books and films in development, “I have the chance to shape the minds and hearts of children. It’s an enormous responsibility and it is one that I don’t take lightly! That’s why my books are entertaining but message driven. In The King of Skittledeedoo, the king has to learn to read, write, and spell in order to save his kingdom – it’s a charming story well told with whimsical illustrations. I can say that because it’s now in its 3rd printing!” She has made a television pilot of the book where she served as a princess with children of the Kamehameha school in Honolulu as the children of the kingdom of Skittledeedoo where they learn to read, write, and spell along with the king.

Patricia Rust is a frequent speaker about “scripting your own life” and is a popular guest with the media and a teacher of writing workshops. She began her career with her own talk show on PBS and hosted some magazine shows before she sold her first screenplay to Warner Bros. and moved behind the camera where she went on to write for dramatic television, situation comedies, and network specials. She wrote on Emmy-award-winning shows where she thrived and even wrote pilots which are considered the hallmark of success in television.

Since age two, Patricia has also enjoyed a modeling career from which she has never been able to retire. She is best known as a former Ivory Soap girl and still does beauty shots and is a hand and lifestyle model that she ties in with some of her travel writing. She is currently on tour to Spain, France, and Scotland and speaks the language of each of these countries. “I love language because it is a great doorway to the people and their culture. Robert Burns and his brogue are pure heaven!” she says.

As a student and editor of the Daily Bruin while at UCLA, she would model and write about her travels. She happened into a ski show at age 16 and was mistaken for a model who was late and Rust was hired on the spot. She ended up traveling the world for skiwear, hair, and fashion industry icons. It was at UCLA while still a student and modeling that she interviewed Arnold Schwarznegger and began a lifelong friendship with him and many others including the current mayor of Los Angeles. And she’s been writing ever since.

When Arianna Huffington brought Rust on board, the publisher/author/entrepreneur’s exact words were, “We want to have your voice on board.” And boy, what a voice Rust has! “Writing for Ms. Huffington is a dream come true,” says Rust. “She is my hero! I absolutely adore the Huffington Post! I read it for hours every day and am completely hooked on the bloggers! I can’t believe that I am one of them! And now that we have a French and U.K. version, I read those first!”

Rust grew up in Brentwood, a suburb of Los Angeles, California, and went to Palisades High School, UCLA, and the American Film Institute. She now splits her time between there and Honolulu, Hawaii. She is the daughter of Jackie and Bill Rust, noted philanthropists, and major inspirations in her life.

In her free time, she enjoys long-distance swimming and flower photography. She has her own line of jewelry that she makes for a private clientele that can be seen at http://www.flowersofaloha.com/jewelry. She is single and has no children except the millions she writes for and reads to!

She is available for interviews.

Fort Worth, Texas (PRWEB) November 09, 2011

Fort Worth-based fashion accessory manufacturer Treska, Inc. announced today that it is now 100 percent employee owned. Treska transitioned from a privately held company to an employee-owned company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which sold the company, via shares of stock, to qualified employees as part of their employee benefits program. The Treska ESOP became effective on October 19, 2011.

As part of the transition, two key executives were promoted to new leadership positions. Gary Fields, a 23-year Treska employee, was promoted to CEO, and Donna Kee was promoted to COO. Former Treska owner and founder Kay Pile chose to sell the company she started 32 years ago in her garage to the Treska ESOP to ensure a successful leadership transition and to reward employees who have helped grow the business during the last three decades.

“The establishment of the ESOP will help secure a solid future for Treska, its customers and its employees,” said Gary Fields, incoming CEO. “My goal is to continue to support our industry-leading position, while looking for new business and global expansion opportunities.”

The transition will be seamless, as Fields has been with Treska for more than 23 years, and has learned every aspect of the business. In his new CEO capacity, he will continue to develop overseas expansion and lead product development. Piles will remain involved with design and artistic oversight.

Kee, who joined Treska in 2009 as controller, brings 12 years of experience from her previous financial roles with the Texas Rangers Baseball Club and Dallas Stars Hockey Team. Last year Kee was promoted to Vice President. In her new role as COO, she will oversee Treska’s finance and operations functions.

Treska has built its solid reputation as a leading designer, marketer and distributor of fashion jewelry and accessories. The company is poised for continued growth with its 78,000 square-foot fully owned industrial space in Fort Worth that serves as its headquarters. It houses Treska’s distribution center, executive offices, in-house design team, customer service center and sales departments.

Treska’s two core groups of customers are specialty boutique stores and key accounts, which include major retailers such as Zevar by Treska at Steinmart, Chico’s, Aris by Treska at JC Penney and Sears to name a few. Treska’s strong distribution base is a result of the broad range of quality products that include all jewelry categories, fashion handbags, trend scarves, watches, small leather goods, belts and travel accessories.

Treska, Inc. continues to look ahead in its approach to design, product and category diversification. This emphasis will help to develop the Treska brand, as it expands domestically and internationally through new markets and distribution channels. The jewelry is designed, sourced and developed in-house with a focus on bringing the best products to market.

“Treska has had tremendous profitability during the last four years, and the ESOP will help ensure the company’s long term growth,” said newly appointed COO, Donna Kee. “This program allows employees to share in the company’s success and be rewarded for their commitment and dedication, which ultimately helps support a sustainable future for the company and our customers.”

ABOUT TRESKA, INC.

Founded in 1979, Treska, Inc. is a recognized leader of the trend jewelry and accessories market, with a vision to create high quality, hand-crafted jewelry.
The Colorado Cleantech Industry Association (CCIA) presents awards to eight recipients today at its annual “Colorado Cleantech Industry Awards Celebration,” honoring leadership in advancing cleantech job creation, entrepreneurship, political leadership and financing.

“The winning companies span the cleantech spectrum, representing the most innovative and entrepreneurial technologies and individuals in Colorado’s cleantech community,” says Chris Shapard, CCIA’s Executive Director. “We want to extend our congratulations to this year’s winners and finalists and our appreciation for their work in growing and expanding the dynamic cleantech industry.”

The winners were selected based on many factors, including but not limited to, the company’s ability to create an innovative clean technology that has a viable market strategy, the executive team’s ability to raise funding to support the technology and the company’s statewide job creation. Winners were selected by a group of industry peers ranging from venture capitalists and corporate strategists to current and former technology CEOs.

Emerging Cleantech Company of the Year: RavenBrick
It saves up to 30 percent on heating and cooling year round, without using electricity or hard-wired control systems. The windows were installed at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo., in one of the most energy efficient buildings in the world. RavenBrick has grown to a company of 14 employees and plans to hire extensively in 2012. The company has raised $ 6 million in capital from Colorado based angels and VCs. It was his determination to overcome initial hurdles and his ability to express his vision to others that helped him succeed in such a stunning fashion with Tendril. In addition to leading Tendril to success, Adrian is a persistent and diligent smart grid advocate on Capitol Hill and various public utility commissions and he has testified before the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee as well as the Federal Communications Commission. Currently, Adrian serves as a regular advisor to the White House on the topic of the smart grid. Through Adrian’s vision, persistence and entrepreneurial spirit, he is driving revolutionary change in the energy industry

National Cleantech Leadership: National Renewable Energy Laboratory

NREL is the only federal laboratory dedicated to the research, development, commercialization and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. Backed by 34 years of achievement, NREL leads the way in helping meet the growing demand for clean energy. At the core of this strategic direction are NREL’s research and technology development competencies. These areas span from understanding renewable resources for energy, to the conversion of these resources to renewable electricity and fuels, and ultimately to the use of renewable electricity and fuels in homes, commercial buildings, and vehicles. In its efforts to support renewable energy and economic development in Colorado, NREL recently jointly created the Colorado Center for Renewable Energy Economic Development (CREED) with the State of Colorado and affiliated stakeholders. By providing a unique facility where organizations, industry, researchers, scientists, and engineers can interact and discuss important technical, business, market, and policy issues with entrepreneurs, investors, analysts, and policy makers, CREED connects the cleantech economic development puzzle pieces in Colorado.
Political Advocate of the Year: The Honorable Cheri Gerou

State Representative Cheri Gerou championed CCIA’s keystone legislation, SB 47, the Innovation Reinvestment Act, last session. The Innovation Reinvestment Act will direct new corporate sales tax revenue — based on industry growth — to Colorado startups in the clean technology and biotech industries. It is projected to generate several million to industry startups in its first year in 2013-2014. Rep. Gerou was an invaluable lead sponsor whose clear articulation of complex issues was key in garnering state House support. She worked in a textbook bipartisan-style with the lead state Senate sponsor, Rollie Heath, of Boulder. This complex piece of legislation was successful due in large part to the respect she’s earned from her colleagues.

Governor’s Award for Excellence in Cleantech Leadership: Paul Nelson, Clean Range Ventures

Paul Nelson is a managing director at Clean Range Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Boulder focused on bringing investment capital into Colorado to be used by seed and early stage cleantech companies. Paul began his career by forming Natural Fuels Company, then growing the company as a joint venture between Xcel Energy and the Colorado Interstate Gas Company. In 2000, he founded Blue Energy & Technologies LLC, raised $ 10.5 million in strategic and venture capital and purchased NFC outright. In 2006, Paul helped initiate the legislative effort to create and fund the Colorado Renewable Energy Collaboratory with $ 6 million from the State of Colorado. He was the founding Managing Director for the Center for Revolutionary Solar Photoconversion (CRSP), a research center of the Collaboratory, and raised more than $ 1 million in research co-funding from industry members. Paul is a founding member of CCIA and serves as a co-chair of the public policy committee. Paul continues to serve as a senior advisor to CRSP and is on the advisory board for the CU Deming Center for Entrepreneurship. Visit: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/paul-alan-nelson/1a/666/58b

Cleantech Champion: Fort Collins Utilities

Fort Collins is at the forefront of grid modernization because of visionary leadership at the Fort Collins Utilities. Working closely with local clean energy businesses, Colorado State University and policy makers, Fort Collins Utilities is committed to integrating renewable energy assets onto the grid. For example, the utility offers rebates to its customers for installing renewable energy, as well as for participating in community-based energy reduction goals such as FortZED, the Fort Collins Zero Energy District. In 1984, Fort Collins Utilities was recognized with a Department of Energy Energy Innovation Award. In 1998, it was the first utility in Colorado — and one of the first in the nation — to offer wind power to its customers. In 2007, Fort Collins Utilities received one of only nine grants from the DOE to test renewable and distributed systems integration live on its grid. The demonstration took place this summer and results are being calculated. In 2009, Fort Collins adopted a comprehensive energy policy with aggressive greenhouse gas reduction goals with a 2050 target. Visit: http://www.fcgov.com/utilities

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) November 02, 2011

An industry-wide research study conducted by HP White Laboratory in early 2011 targeting more than 600 armor manufacturers, government procurement officials, and industry influencers revealed that operational Consistency, Accuracy, and Integrity are the most mission critical metrics that a test lab must provide in today’s changing ballistic testing markets. The study also revealed that short testing queue times, and fast turnarounds on test data and reporting is critical to meeting tight contract delivery schedules and quickening manufacturers’ return-on-investment cycles.

“When an entire industry reveals what’s most important to them as a business, you better listen, and then you better act,” said Mike Parker, president, HP White Laboratory. “HP White has led the industry for seven decades in creating armor test standards, test methods, and continuous improvement approaches for consistency and accuracy. Even still, there’s always opportunity for improvement over ‘industry leading’. And that’s just what HP White has done.”

To meet the demands of a changing armor industry, HP White has launched an evolutionary organizational structure – to provide industry leading test results and test-to-report cycles – teaming its testing operations around Consistency, Accuracy, and Operational Integrity. Each of these teams work in a coordinated fashion bringing function-specific expertise to each HP White testing project. Each team’s members participate in HP White’s Continuing Education Program to hone their skills and incorporate the finer principles of Consistency, Accuracy and Operational Integrity into each project throughout HP White’s nine ballistics ranges and environmental conditioning facilities. HP White’s Continuing Education Program is a proprietary curriculum that combines coursework from HP White Lead Trainers, instruction from industry experts, and practical exams that result in task-specific HP White Certifications for technical personnel.

“Until you institutionalize your operations around customers’ needs, you chance operational commitments being nothing more than lip service,” said Parker. “Our aim with this teaming approach and personnel certification is to provide customers with proof that from technician-to-technician, range-to-range, and project-to-project, HP White provides the consistency, accuracy and integrity they expect and deserve from a third-party test lab.”

HP White Laboratory, Inc. was founded in 1936 by Mr. Henry Packard White as a ballistics research and development facility. In its 75th year of operation, HP White is world renowned as the leading ballistics and ballistic resistance test laboratory. The laboratory is located at 3114 Scarboro Road, in Street, Maryland. For more information, email info(at)hpwhite(dot)com, visit http://www.hpwhite.com, or call 1-410-838-6550.

About HP White Laboratory, Inc

HP White Laboratory, Inc. is an independent ballistics and ballistic resistance laboratory. For 75 years, HP White has specialized in research and development, validation testing, certification and quality control evaluations of body and vehicular armor systems, sub-components and materials. HP White developed many of the ballistic resistance standards, processes and methods used today to test body and vehicular armor for a full scope of applications (law enforcement, military, personal protection), threats (stab, slice, bullet, explosive), and environments (urban, war time, extreme heat/cold). HP White’s services add value throughout the entire supply chain, from research and development processes and product certification to production lot acceptance and post-production quality control. HP White serves the needs of Federal, State, Local and Foreign Government agencies, and the manufacturers dedicated to saving lives of law enforcement and war fighters, globally.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 29, 2011

It’s in the way a man puts his hands in his trouser pockets, the way he holds a cigar, the way he puts his arm around a woman’s waist and the way he drinks a glass of whiskey. Some men have it in spades, while others are missing it all together. It’s not easily defined. It’s class. It’s also in how a man ties his tie. And, while class usually can’t be taught, a new blog aims to help American men cultivate it a little bit at a time. Tie-a-tie.net, the world’s most popular necktie knot tutorial site, has launched a new tie aficionado’s blog at to teach modern men everything they need to know about how to make an impression.

A soup-to-nuts guide discussing everything from fashion trends to etiquette to dress codes, the Tie-a-tie.net blog helps over 10,000 visitors a day learn useful tidbits of information, such as how to tie a Half Windsor tie knot or make dimples in one’s necktie. The blog is regularly updated with posts on a wide range of topics like advice on what to wear to a warm weather black tie occasion, a guide to dress shirt collars, necktie storage tips and how to wear tie bars. In addition, the site offers tips on other finishing-touch flourishes, like how to properly fold a pocket square.

Not every man has a natural air of gravitas about him. The Tie-a-tie.net blog aims to help the average guy become a man who turns every head when he walks into a room (as opposed to making everybody want to leave the room). For men who want to dazzle women with their elegance, instead of frighten them with their frumpiness, Tie-a-tie.net is a must-read blog that will aid in achieving a polished, formal look.

“The new blog is a place tie aficionados can turn when they want to know what’s the best way to care for silk neckties, remove stains or keep ties from getting frayed,” said Tie-a-tie.net founder Hendrik Pohl. “It’s also an informative website for beginner tie collectors who simply want to know how to tie a Kent knot.”

Attracting over four million visitors each year, Tie-a-tie.net has already taught some 50 million how to tie a tie.

FIDM Students at Halloween Carnival 2010

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 27, 2011

At a college where real thought goes into what to wear to school each day, creative ideas are brewing. On the downtown Los Angeles campus, future fashion and costume designers, merchandisers, and product developers are getting ready to compete at the annual Halloween Carnival, where the outfits are always inspiring.

Fashion Design major Jason Alvarez and friend Ivan Gil, will not be playing it safe. Alvarez has been sewing pelts on his faux rabbit fur cape for some weeks now. As a Gothic Indian, he’ll be swathed in all black—leather, metal, fur, feathers, and fabric—in a costume inspired by Alexander McQueen. Gil has two fabulous looks in mind: he’ll use bright colors and face paint to go tribal for his African-inspired day costume.

Julianna Erno-Pearce plans to channel her favorite Victoria’s Secret angel, Adriana Lima. Merchandise Marketing major Kaylyn Roberts is putting together black shorts, sparkly bra, and pink “cupcakes” and “making it work” as her celebrity fave Katy Perry. And Diamond Cornelioun will be a naughty SWAT team girl in black fishnets, stilettos, and a pair of black rompers she found online.

Some students are turning to literary figures and TV for inspiration. Visual Communications major Kimberly Todd can’t wait to be Disney’s classic Tinkerbell: glittery green fabric, little flats with white pompoms, and wings are in the works. Willy Wonka fan Shalyn Jones is gathering the details for her Wonka costume, complete with an oversized hand–sewn wonka chocolate bar hanging out of her back pocket. And Madison Briede is surfing websites like ebay and etsy for period accessories to complete her authentic Pan Am stewardess look.

On the fashion college’s downtown campus, students can research their ideas at the largest fashion library on the West Coast. In addition to vintage fashion magazines and books, the library has a classic movie collection for checking historic detail. The FIDM Museum & Galleries, on the downtown campus, presents annual exhibitions of the best costume designs from movies and television for students’ and the public to draw inspiration.

With four dynamic California campuses, FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is the premier west coast fashion design school, educating for careers in fashion, graphic design, interior design, and entertainment. FIDM’s graduates include renowned fashion designers like Monique Lhuillier, Emmy® and Academy Award® award-winning costume designers, top fashion industry executives, and entrepreneurs.

Question by Alan S.: Is it even cool to be in a fashion “clique” after you turn 14?
like skaters or punks or grunge?
dude, you guys are totally right! maybe fashion experts are retards like JEWEL! haha j/k learn how to dress kiddies! cause your fashion clique dresses you funny!

Best answer:

Answer by Mei Ling
No it isn’t. It isn’t even cool when you are young. Men have it rough. They can’t be very individualistic dresswise, or else people tend to think they’re gay. Men should not be into fashion. It is a double standard, but that’s how it is!

I am once and for all implementing a absolutely consistent writing itinerary. Presently I observed some intersting content and articles I wish to show you. My personal moment was undoubtedly going good for me personally nonetheless so with a little luck this posting gets to you in a good state of mind also.

(PRWEB) October 18, 2005

Shankari (http://www.shankari.com), the company named after its mystical founder and inspired designer, has unveiled a new website featuring a collection of handmade, socially conscious and highly spiritual Balinese jewelry and sacred objects. Gracing the site is a number of beautiful crystal and semi-precious stone jewelry options for both women and men, including rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and much more.

“We are truly excited to be introducing this line to the conscious business and consumer market. The new site showcases the amazing world and works of Shankari. We wanted to share the incredible story of Shankari, the conscious nature of her products and compassionate workplaces,” shares Daniel Hoffman, Shankari’s Director of Marketing.

Shankari’s Jewelry is often described as powerful “Tools of Light,” and is hand-made by Balinese craftsmen. It can take anywhere from 10 to 30 days to make one piece, depending upon its complexity. Additionally, Shankari creates most of her designs as limited editions, producing each style in very small quantities. The quality of the jewelry has already received attention from some of the Hollywood elite, being seen on the likes of Hilary Duff, Halle Berry and Rachel Hunter.

“My jewelry is completely hand-made by a team of more than 30 local artisans, who live and work on the grounds of my home. I personally oversee the design of every aspect of my collection. Our efforts are a collaboration. The day begins with group meditation and yoga, designed to foster a communal spiritual atmosphere. The jewelry that results is imbued with a tangible energy and harmony,” shares founder and head designer Shankari.

Shankari’s growth is out of a storybook. Just 12 years ago, feeling spiritually bankrupt, Shankari escaped one day to a coffee shop, desperate for a clear space to think. Borrowing a pen from a waiter, she began to redesign her life on a napkin. “I knew what I wanted to do. Having studied ritual magic, energy and healing, alchemy and light bodies and the teachings of the Siddha Masters, I wanted to create the most beautiful jewelry for powerful people. It would be handmade in a “sacred space” with precious stones. I wanted to design and produce beautiful healing Talismans of Power in service to the world. So, listening to my inner guides, I headed off to Bali, a single parent with four small children, knowing no one, with no money, no safety and no language. I had just lost everything I had worked so hard for. I was prepared to rebuild my life from the ground up.”

Today, Shankari lives in a beautiful palace by the sea on a sacred river on the West Coast of Bali where she married a prince. She divides her time between Bali and the Big Island of Hawaii, where she is building a “Mystery School.” In both places, she is planting renewal forests of teak trees to bring employment to local people and contribute to local industry and their economy in a “green” way.

To accommodate the growing market demand from yoga and conscious markets, Shankari will also soon be launching a new socially responsible clothing line, featuring t-shirts and yoga clothing with her personally designed Mandalas, hand-painted silk scarves, sarongs and kimonos and even shoes. “We anticipate continuing to offer new socially conscious products in order to meet the growing demand of a more conscious customer.” Beyond the website, the company is also considering select retail partners to showcase Shankari’s designs. “We want to take these sacred pieces to the world. As of now we are looking at everything from spas to high end yoga studios to specialty retailers,” shares Hoffman.
